Siberians originated in Russia in 1000 A.D. and once weighed up to 45 pounds, offering protection and companionship for their owners. They are medium-sized, long-haired cats with off-white coats and dark tails and extremities.

While their size may be similar to the Angora, their coat and significant heft give them a much larger appearance. However, despite their long coats, they do not need too much grooming.

Siberians mature slowly, generally over a period of five years. They are low-maintenance pets, not requiring too much attention, and yet approachable and affectionate with humans and other pets.

They may be big, but they are agile, energetic, and very clever. They enjoy playing with toys and will often play fetch with their owners. They are also avid hunters.
